Clinical Research
Opportunities for clinical research are available through the section’s Lupus Clinic and the Interstitial Lung Disease Clinic, a collaborative effort between Rheumatology and Pulmonology. Ongoing projects include the use of belimumab in patients with systemic sclerosis, and previous areas of research include regulation of the interferon pathway in lupus patients and studies of renal disease pathogenesis. Institution and nation-wide data are available through Temple’s partnership with TriNetX.
Basic Science Research
The section’s laboratory effort is focused on systemic autoimmunity. Section faculty and trainees have the opportunity to work side-by-side with scientists from related disciplines in the Center for Microbiology and Immunology (CMI), a collaborative group of basic and translational researchers sharing an interest in the intersection between immunology, microbiology, and clinical disease states.
