Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program
Temple University Hospital/Crozer-Chester Medical Center
The need for trained geriatricians is increasing rapidly as the population ages. The Temple University Hospital Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program is a 12-month clinical experience that prepares internists and family physicians to care for older adults in diverse settings, and to develop the skills necessary for successful careers as clinician-educators.
The ACGME-accredited program leads to eligibility for the ABIM/ABFP examination for board certification in Geriatric Medicine. Program graduates have gone on to become clinical geriatricians, medical directors, academic faculty, researchers and double-boarded subspecialists.
Curriculum:
Temple’s Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program includes clinical exposure to a variety of inpatient, outpatient, and long-term care and community settings. A comprehensive curriculum covers clinical geriatrics, research methodology and statistics, aging in society, nursing home regulations, and ethics. They also are active in the teaching of medical students, residents, nursing students and social work students. Research and educational opportunities are available and encouraged.
