Clinical training

Fellows provide inpatient consultation at Temple University Hospital and learn to manage acute endocrine conditions in complex, high acuity patients.
Fellows also gain a strong foundation in outpatient endocrinology, highlighted by two half-day continuity clinic sessions a week, where fellows manage their own patient panel with a dedicated faculty preceptor.

Additionally, fellows work one on one with faculty in multiple clinic settings, including thyroid biopsy clinic and endocrine transplant clinic.  Fellows get exposure to a wide variety of clinical settings beyond North Philadelphia including satellite sites such as Temple University Hospital – Jeanes campus, Fox Chase Cancer Center and outpatient offices in Ft. Washington, PA

Research Experience

Fellows are actively involved in research and receive close mentorship from faculty when pursuing their research projects. Faculty give brief research presentations early in training so fellows can select a research mentor and identify an existing project to work on or develop their own research projects

Fellows have opportunities to participate in bench, translational and clinical research and present their work at institutional, local and national meetings. Please see link below to review recent fellow publications

Fellows also have access to the Center for Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine which can provide electronic health record data and statistical support for use in research projects.
