Completion of eight (8) credits with lab in each of the following premed-required courses:

• Biology
• General Chemistry
• Organic Chemistry
• Physics

Also, biochemistry may be used to substitute for General or Organic Chemistry coursework.

Be sure to complete the Prerequisite section of the PostBacCAS application.

Note:

• The deadline for applying for admission is June 1. Applicants must complete their prerequisite coursework by July 15 of the same year as starting the program.
• Courses designed for non-science majors or allied health students are not acceptable.
• Two pre-requisite science courses can be fulfilled with AP credits or through a study abroad program.
• Students with incomplete prerequisites may apply, but there may be a delay in the application review process if two (2) or more pre-requisite courses are pending.

About Online Courses

Online courses taken prior to spring 2020 cannot be used to meet any of the prerequisites. However, in response to the unique pandemic circumstances, online courses taken during 2020 spring, summer, and fall semesters, and the spring 2021 semester will be accepted.

If the online course fulfills a science requirement, it must have a standard letter grade. All other online courses taken during the spring and summer 2020 semesters may have a Pass grade. All online classes taken in or after the fall 2020 semester require a standard letter grade.

Applicants are required to submit both a verified PostBacCAS application and an LKSOM PostBac Secondary application.

The LKSOM application fee can be paid by credit card or eCheck (electronic) upon submission of the secondary application. The fee is non-refundable.

PostBacCAS collects their own processing fees.

Both applications must be received before the deadline. NOTE: There are no deadline extensions for incomplete applications.

Since PostBacCAS processing may take up to 6 weeks, we strongly recommend that all application materials are submitted early.

All applicants to the LKSOM Postbaccalaureate program are required to complete the Casper assessment between May and the following April for a June 1 admission application cycle. This assessment is offered as a part of the Altus Suite of Medicine (UME) (CSP10111 – US Medicine).

Casper is an online, video scenario-based test which assesses for non-cognitive skills and interpersonal characteristics that we believe are important for success in our program. This assessment complements other applicant selection tools. Note that LKSOM will not use Snapshot or DUET for the 2024 application cycle.

Although there is no preparation necessary to complete Casper, you may want to familiarize yourself with the structure of this assessment at https://acuityinsights.app/. Be sure that you have a quiet environment when you are completing this assessment.

Casper test results from May through the following April for a June 1 application deadline are valid for that application cycle. If you previously released scores to LKSOM for your MD program application, there is no need to resend them.

Applicants with permanent resident or refugee/asylee status are required to upload U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) documentation to their PostBacCAS application.

Applicants who were the recipient of institutional action(s) at any previous academic institution are required to indicate this on their PostBacCAS application. You also are required to have the institution where the infraction occurred submit an official statement to the Office of Admissions via email to postbac@temple.edu. This letter must contain details of the event and the outcome of the institutional process.

Applications with an institutional action will only be reviewed when this letter has been received. If an institutional action occurs after the PostBacCAS application has been submitted, notification of the institutional action must be emailed to the Office of Admissions within 10 days of occurrence including details of the event.

We will only accept institutional action statements emailed to postbac@temple.edu from the appropriate institutional official (Dean of Students, Judicial Officer, etc.). A statement within your pre-health committee letter does not meet our requirement.

All letters should be on official letterhead with a signature and are uploaded through the PostBacCAS application system. Instructions can be found HERE.

Letters of recommendation may be submitted by various means:

• A premedical committee letter OR a compilation packet OR three individual letters are acceptable. Compilation packets are not accepted through PostBacCAS but may be emailed to Postbac@temple.edu.
• If submitting a compilation packet or individual letters, two letters are recommended, if possible, from professors with whom you completed course work in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. One additional letter may be from either a non-science professor, work experience, or a service activity.
• A premedical committee letter will meet our requirements regardless of the number of science/non-science letters included.
• We welcome letters from research mentors or advisors, in addition to the two recommended science professors' letters.

A professional resumé or a CV is required and should be uploaded to the documents section of the PostBacCAS application.

Applicants are required to self-report all standardized test scores within the PostBacCAS application.

If you are applying with MCAT scores, you are required to also report any additional standardized test scores including GRE, SAT and/or ACT scores. Instructions on self-reporting tests can be found HERE.

Official scores are required only for applicants selected to interview and must be submitted to Temple University via the appropriate testing agency below. Do not send official test scores until an invitation for interview has been issued.

SAT/ACT

• SAT score reports must be requested through the College Board to be sent to the Temple University Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Code: 2906
• ACT score reports must be requested through ACT to be sent to the Temple University Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Code: 3724.

GRE

• GRE scores from the year of matriculation and two prior years are considered for admission.
•  GRE score reports must be electronically requested through Educational Testing Service to be sent to Temple University Graduate School. Code = 2906

MCAT

The MCAT is not a requirement for acceptance into the ACMS program. If you do have an MCAT score(s), you are required to self-report every MCAT score (both MCAT and MCAT2015) on the PostBacCAS application.

• If you are invited for an interview, an official MCAT score report must be sent to postbac@temple.edu.
• MCAT scores from 2022, 2023, and 2024 are acceptable for submission. Applicants with MCAT scores taken more than three years ago must retake the MCAT to meet the conditional acceptance requirements. Only the most recent MCAT sections and total score will be considered. Combining the highest section scores from previous tests cannot fulfill the MCAT requirement.

Official transcripts from all colleges attended should be uploaded to the PostBacCAS Application. Instructions can be found HERE. Official final transcripts are only required from matriculating students and will be requested following acceptance.
