The Lemole Center for Integrated Lymphatics and Vascular Research (LCILVR) explores how the body’s lymphatic and vascular systems work together to maintain health — and how they contribute to diseases like heart disease, neurodegeneration, inflammation, and metabolic disorders.
Our multidisciplinary teams include cardiovascular researchers, immunologists, neurologists, vascular biologists, and molecular and cell scientists, all working together to uncover how these systems influence health across the body.
Every day, our body’s lymphatic system performs essential jobs:
- Regulating immune responses
- Moving immune cells to where they’re needed
- Preventing fluid buildup (edema)
- Aiding in wound healing
- Helping the body absorb and transport dietary fat
But the lymphatic system’s role in disease is still not well understood. Our investigators conduct cutting-edge vascular, cardiac, neural, and brain research to better understand these connections.
Founded through the vision and generosity of Dr. Gerald M. Lemole, a 1962 graduate of the Lewis Katz School of Medicine and a pioneer in holistic cardiovascular care, the Center is built on the belief that transformative science happens through collaboration. We unite experts from Temple University, Temple Hospital, and other research institutions to share insights and drive innovation.
Education and mentorship are central to our mission. We support trainees and faculty through state-of-the-art labs, pilot research grants, and opportunities like our seminar series and journal club, both focused on the lymphatic and vascular systems in disease.
We invite you to explore our work, connect with our investigators, and join us in advancing research that leads to real-world impact.
