  • Cell signaling networks

My laboratory, located at the Burholme Campus of Fox Chase Cancer Center and the LKSOM, evaluates signaling networks governing carcinogenesis and ciliopathies. During, my graduate studies at MIT, I combined bioinformatic analysis with targeted mutagenesis to dissect enhancer core for mammalian leukemia-inducing retroviruses, in work that provided groundwork for the discovery of the key RUNX/AML leukemic regulators. As a postdoctoral fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and in my own laboratory, I was lead developer of a yeast two-hybrid system that for a decade served a major platform for the identification of protein-protein interactions and protein signaling networks. As an independent researcher, my group has focused on definition of signaling networks related to drug resistance, with specific emphasis on study of AURKA, NEDD9, and associated proteins that regulate cell cycle, genome stability, and cell-cell communication via cilia. Researchers in my laboratory have extensive experience in bioinformatic analysis of protein interaction and genomic datasets, which we have used in collaborative studies with clinical partners to evaluate factors influencing prognosis for several types of solid tumors, including lung, head and neck, and colon. I also serve as Director as the High Throughput Screening Facility at Fox Chase Cancer Center, and have expertise in probing chemical and small molecule libraries to identify cancer-relevant modulators.
