ACDC — Not just research…DISCOVERY
The Aging + Cardiovascular Discovery Center (ACDC) is a scientific powerhouse. Our combined strengths in cardiovascular research and translational medicine lead to groundbreaking discoveries and treatments for aging-associated diseases.
With more than 100 researchers, support staff, students, and fellows, ACDC finds new genes and biological mechanisms that lead to conditions like heart failure, kidney failure, lung disease, and Alzheimer's. We use these discoveries to develop new treatments.
Our biomedical research center offers:
- Top-level training opportunities. These include prestigious fellowships for graduate students (MD, PhD and MD/PhD candidates) and postdoctoral researchers.
- Exceptional hands-on research experiences and team mentoring for Temple University undergraduates, graduate and medical students.
- Strong, team-based grant proposals that earn major funding opportunities. ACDC faculty have already won large, multi-lab awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- Shared lab resources with advanced technologies:
- A new genomics single-cell sequencing core. This technology uncovers far more information than older techniques, and
- A new metabolomics core. More precise measurements help us track changes in metabolism and cell signaling.
- Close collaboration with clinical departments. Together, we design research to tackle today's most pressing medical questions. That makes it easier to turn lab discoveries into clinical treatments.
- Projects with other top Philadelphia medical schools. This expands ACDC’s research and scientific impact.
At ACDC, we don’t just conduct research. We discover, innovate, and collaborate to redefine the future of aging-related and cardiovascular diseases.
Sincerely,
