Millions of people are affected by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), sepsis and more. Yet, effective therapies remain limited. 
 
Our research focuses on three areas: 

Advancing basic science.  
Our researchers use cutting-edge technologies and core facilities to explore molecular and cellular mechanisms of lung disease. By sharing our groundbreaking findings through publications, conferences and symposia, we help accelerate global progress in lung health. 

Clinical Collaboration. 
Our translational researchers partner with clinical faculty at Temple University Hospital to bridge lab discoveries with patient care. These collaborations help us identify novel treatment targets, reduce health issues, and move basic science findings into clinical applications.  

Training the next generation. 
Education is central to our mission. We mentor medical students, residents, undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and early-career investigators in a dynamic and supportive learning culture.
