Research Interest

Dr. Amabile’s research efforts have been focused on both the pathophysiological implications of human morphological variation, and on anatomy education. Her main area of research interest within human morphological variation relates to the anatomical structures in the lumbar and hip regions that have been implicated in low back pain causation. A secondary area of research has focused on cardiovascular and pulmonary structures and the practical ways that their variations can affect clinical care provided by physicians and allied health providers. Her anatomy education research efforts have been focused on assessing the impact of spacing of anatomy content delivery on anatomy knowledge retention; and various student-driven projects related to cadaver dissection and the use of peer education to teach anatomy clinical correlations.
