Faculty and Departments
The Lewis Katz School of Medicine prides itself on exceptional faculty and strong departments. These are the heart of much of the school’s research, education and clinical activities. Gifts to support faculty or departments can have a tremendous — and everlasting — impact on an entire field of study, and elevate the whole school.
Professorships and Chairs
Professorships and chairs are one of the highest honors a member of the faculty can receive — and one of the most impactful gifts a donor can make. Endowed chairs are more than essential aspects of image and reputation. They are crucial to the pursuit of new ideas in research and education. They allow the school to aim for the stars as it recruits and retain faculty — and for faculty, it empowers them to advance their careers and their work to a whole new level.
Lectureships
Lectureships are a vital and dynamic educational component of a department — they ensure that the department can bring in leaders in the field to educate students, faculty and clinicians on the latest developments and newest breakthroughs. Often named in honor of a departmental donor, a lectureship is a valued investment in any department.
Department Funds
In addition to specially purposed gifts, many departments have a huge need for general funds. Often used by the chairman to address the areas of greatest need or opportunity, general gifts to departments may help hire staff, may allow them to purchase new equipment and may help underwrite travel and educational programming or more. These gifts are often highly valued by department chairs.
