Flow Cytometry Core

BD FACSDiscover S8 with CellView

BD FACSDiscover S8 with CellView can reliably sort bulk and single cells based on the fluorophore location and the morphology of the cells.

Overview

Flow cytometry rapidly analyzes physical and chemical properties of cells and particles. Access to a wide array of flow cytometric applications—such as cell cycle analysis, immunophenotyping or cell sorting in bulk and as single cells—is an invaluable resource for basic and clinical research in biology. The Flow Cytometry Core provides advanced instrumentation and high-level technical and scientific expertise in multi-dimensional Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting.

Equipment

BD FACSDiscover™ S8 Cell Sorter with Spectral FX and CellView™

The first cell sorter to combine spectral flow cytometry (Spectral FX) with real-time imaging (CellView™) for high-dimensional analysis and sorting. Equipped with five lasers (355, 405, 488, 561, 637 nm) and over 75 detectors, it delivers exceptional spectral resolution and flexibility. Integrated CellView™ imaging enables fluorescence- and morphology-based gating, including size, granularity, and nuclear features. A BSL-2–compliant, HEPA-filtered enclosure ensures sterile operation with human-derived or infectious samples. The system supports a range of collection formats—from tubes to 384-well plates—for rare-cell, morphology-based, and imaging-enabled assays such as MitoTracker, MitoSOX, and EV sorting.

BD FACSAria™ IIu Cell Sorter:

High-throughput 3-laser (407, 488, 633 nm) cell sorter detecting up to 12 parameters. Housed in a BSL-2+ HEPA biosafety cabinet for safe, sterile operation, it features interchangeable 70, 85, and 100 µm nozzles for diverse cell types and supports 2-way, 4-way, and plate-based sorting with high purity and viability.

BD FACSymphony™ A5 SE Analyzer (Spectral‑Enabled)

A 5-laser (355, 405, 488, 561, 637 nm) analyzer detecting up to 28 parameters with high-sensitivity PMTs for superior resolution of complex panels. Ideal for deep immunophenotyping, systems immunology, and single-cell functional assays.

BD LSRFortessa™ (LSRII) Analyzer

A 4-laser (355, 405, 488, 633 nm) analyzer detects up to 17 parameters, acquiring up to 70,000 events per second with high data fidelity. Ideal for immunophenotyping, cell cycle analysis, and functional assays.
