Department Faculty Research Award

The Temple University Department of Medicine Faculty Development Research Award will provide support for faculty working toward externally funded careers in medical research.  It is intended that one new grant will be awarded in 2021 for qualified a candidate.  This award is targeted primarily for junior faculty at the Assistant Professor level, and will provide salary support for protected time and some supplies for investigator career development in clinical, translational or basic science research.  The intent of this award will be to provide significant protected time to carry out research projects that will make the candidate attractive for subsequent extramural research funding, such as NIH K23, K08, R21, and R01 grants and major societal career development awards.  The application process is similar to that used for the NIH K23 young investigator awards.  Academic course work is encouraged as part of this developmental award.  Educational programs include the Masters of Science in Clinical Research and Translational Medicine, and the Masters of Science Degree in Epidemiology offered in the School of Public Health.

The objective of the Faculty Development Research Award is to assist promising and aspiring young faculty in the Department of Medicine to carry out research endeavors that will lead to externally-funded research careers.
