The program receives approximately 750 inquiries each year, and approximately 115 candidates are interviewed for six positions. In order to apply to the program, candidates must meet the minimum requirements for eligibility as established by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Applicants must be graduates of a medical school in the United States or Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or American Osteopathic Association. Graduates of medical schools outside the United States and Canada must hold an immigrant, J1 or H1B visa and must hold a current, valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates having successfully completed the USMLE, Steps I and II. US clinical experience is recommended.

Although our program does not have any USMLE score requirements, scores of at least 220 on each Step are recommended in order to make your application competitive with other applicants.

The decision for interviews and selection of candidates are based solely on academic qualifications without regard to age, sex, race, religion, national origin, physical handicap, marital status, or sexual preference.

To apply for the neurology residency at Temple University Hospital, you must apply through the National Residency Matching Program NRMP/ERAS.

Information regarding the Match and ERAS can be found on the National Resident Matching Program site or the Association of American Medical Colleges site.

We require a personal statement, CV, USMLE/COMLEX scores, medical school transcript, dean's letter, and three letters of recommendation from individuals who are familiar with your clinical background.
