The performance of basic, translational, and clinical research aimed at decreasing the burden of disease is an essential part of the mission at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. Research by our scientists seeks to gain insights that will help in the development of better treatments for major sources of morbidity and mortality. Major areas of focus include cardiovascular and heart disease; pulmonary disease; cancer; nerve damage and neurodegeneration; inflammation and immune system dysfunction; virally-induced disease; and substance abuse.
