Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program

The Fels Institute faculty are deeply involved in the training of PhD  students from the Biomedical Sciences (BMSC) Graduate Program  and MD/PhD program at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. The interdisciplinary BMSC program provides students with the education, training, and skills that today's employers in academia, government and industry demand. Most Fels research faculty participate in the training of graduate students within the Cancer Biology and Genetics (CBGN) and/or the Molecular and Cellular Biosciences (MCBS) Clusters for the BMSC graduate program. Several faculty also serve in leadership Cluster positions and/or are Directors and Instructors in BMSC graduate program courses. In addition, a NIH/NIGMS predoctoral T32 training funding program directed by Drs. Xavier Graña and Jonathan Soboloff will provide two years of support for training, research, and travel to conferences for a total of 15 predoctoral students within the Cancer Biology and Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biosciences Clusters of the Biomedical Sciences Program over a five-year period.
 
With a curriculum featuring an interdisciplinary approach to education and research training, students learn how to perform as independent scientific investigators, exploring new pathways for learning and discovery. The programs challenge students to think logically and creatively and to express themselves independently.
