Thank you for your interest in the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program(s) at Temple University Hospital (TUH).
As a tertiary care center and one of Philadelphia’s busiest Level I trauma hospitals, TUH offers residents exceptional exposure to a broad spectrum of high-acuity and complex pathology. Our collaboration with the Fox Chase Cancer Center—a nationally renowned comprehensive cancer center—enhances the educational experience with advanced oncologic imaging, interventions, and research opportunities. Through the Temple Lung Center, which ranks among the highest in lung transplant volume nationwide, residents regularly encounter complex pulmonary cases both pre- and post-transplant. TUH also boasts a robust abdominal organ transplant program. Additionally, our partnership with the world renown Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia enhances residents’ clinical and educational experience.
Notably, our program does not include fellows, ensuring that residents benefit from early and frequent hands-on experience with advanced imaging and interventional procedures.
Our diagnostic radiology curriculum is carefully refined each year by dedicated faculty and senior residents to ensure a smooth transition into residency. A structured physics curriculum and comprehensive board review series thoroughly prepare residents for the CORE exam, contributing to our consistently high and above average pass rates.
With progressive responsibility built into the training structure, residents gradually take on more complex cases and ultimately gain full autonomy through our robust night float system. Graduates of our program are well-rounded, highly competitive for fellowships, and successful in academic and private practice careers across the country.
Research opportunities are available for those who are interested. We frequently send residents to top radiology conferences, including the Radiologic Society of North America (RSNA) and Society for Interventional Radiology (SIR). The city is home to thriving medical, academic, and research communities, and residents often participate in events hosted by the Philadelphia Roentgen Ray Society and the Philadelphia Angiography and Interventional Radiology Society.
We pride ourselves on fostering a culture of support and collaboration. In the reading room, residents are encouraged to engage in open dialogue with senior residents and faculty. Outside of work, the camaraderie continues through group activities such as dinners, game nights, sports leagues, and social events, building strong bonds that often last beyond residency.
Philadelphia provides a dynamic and affordable backdrop for life outside of medicine. It offers award-winning restaurants, live music, vibrant nightlife, and professional sports teams, including the Eagles, Phillies, 76ers, and Flyers—all within reach of a reasonable cost of living.
We look forward to reviewing your application. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions.
