Temple University Internal Medicine Resident Research Curriculum
Our program provides comprehensive research education which serves as an invaluable experience for our residents who go on to pursue different career paths in medicine. Our research curriculum is specifically designed for Internal Medicine residents and provides training on planning, implementing, and presenting research. The curriculum is designed to prepare residents to present their research at regional and national meetings and includes hands on workshops on research software and statistical programs.
Internal Medicine Resident Research Conference Series: Monthly resident research conferences, September through May
The goals & objectives of the research curriculum are:
- Develop skills in searching and appraising literature
- Learn how to ask research questions and generate hypotheses
- Develop knowledge in research methodology
- Learn how to write a research proposal and plan
- Develop skills in gathering and organizing data
- Develop skills in data analysis
- Develop skills in scientific writing and presentations
- Provide exposure to academic medicine and potential career paths
- Build residents’ portfolio for fellowship applications
Departmental Medicine Research Seminar Series: Supplemental for Residents & Faculty
- Third Thursday of each month at noon, September through June

- Plan a clinical research project
- Implement either observational or experimental clinical research
- Analyze and interpret the data
- Present clinical research data
