Gala 2023 - a group of people dressed up and the Temple mascot in front of balloons and lighted letters.

The Section of Infectious Diseases at Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is dedicated to the highest ideals of teaching, clinical care and advancement of the science of Infectious Diseases. The 11 faculty members and seven fellows see patients at Temple University Hospital, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Temple University Hospital – Jeanes Campus stem cell transplant unit, and in various clinics on the Temple campus. The Section has broad expertise in all aspects of Infectious Diseases including HIV care, Hepatitis C care, General ID, Transplant ID, and Oncologic ID.

We offer a fully accredited, comprehensive training fellowship in Infectious Diseases with a focus on clinical medicine. Our faculty is widely-regarded for teaching expertise for all levels of learning, clinical acumen, and leadership throughout the hospital and school of medicine. The department plays a significant teaching role for both residents and medical students both in pre-clinical and clinical years, with a structured and well received educational program. Though most of our clinical slots are for Temple residents and students, visiting trainees may be accommodated on request. We do not currently have openings for observerships but these may, on rare occasion, be available to residents at our affiliate institutions or visiting residents from other programs looking to learn from our patient base and faculty.
